The working week is Monday – Friday (08:00 – 17:00) however flexible working requests can be considered at the point of application.
The Job
We’re adding several service and repair engineers to our Midlands team. The work is year-round and comes to you: our planning team fills the diary, so you’re not chasing jobs or sitting through quiet spells.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
- Boiler and heating system servicing, including annual services for our Care Plan customers
- Breakdowns and fault-finding across a wide range of makes, with Worcester Bosch the most common
- Sourcing and fitting parts, and getting the system working properly before you leave
- Explaining in plain terms what was wrong and what you did, and pointing out where an upgrade would help
- Completing certificates and job records on your tablet the same day
The van comes home with you and you go straight to your first job. You’ll come into Rugby for parts, van checks, team meetings and training. If you need hours other than 8 til 5, mention it at interview and we’ll talk it through.
What You’ll Need
- Gas Safe registered, with current ACS: CCN1, CPA1, CENWAT and HTR1
- Useful but not essential: G3 unvented, OFTEC, LPG, experience with Commusoft or a similar job system.
- NVQ Level 2 or above in plumbing and heating, or a recognised gas apprenticeship
- Post-qualification experience in boiler servicing and breakdown repair
- A methodical approach to fault-finding, including controls and wiring
- A full UK driving licence

Why Work for Custom Heat & Cool?
We pay people for their skills and experience, not for how long they’ve been with us. If you’re good at what you do, you’ll be paid for it from day one. We look after our people, and that’s a big part of why so many of them stay.
You won’t be on your own. Our Service Manager and Operations Director are on hand to support on site when a job needs it, and our full-time delivery driver gets parts out to you, so you’re not left waiting around.
We invest heavily in training. We want every engineer to hold the core qualifications, including gas, LPG, OFTEC and unvented, and if you look us up on the Gas Safe Register you’ll see most of our team already do. We attend manufacturer courses throughout the year, and after your first 12 months you can join our training scheme to add qualifications in air conditioning, heat pumps and other renewables.
We’ve been family-run since 1980, and we try to run the business the way a good family would: straightforward, fair, and looking out for each other.
