Job Description:

About the role

We are looking for a Gasoline Trader to join the Supply, Trading & Shipping (ST&S) organisation within the GLIGHTS bench. This role focuses on the ARA and MWE gasoline markets, supporting both prompt market activity and the development of longer-term trading positions and strategy.

ST&S is bp's face to the traded markets in oil, gas, power, chemicals, renewables, carbon and finance. ST&S’s role is to enhance bp group value through distinctive supply, commodity trading, risk management and information technology skills underpinned by a market leading analytics, finance, control and compliance infrastructure. ST&S has a dynamic and highly skilled workforce, which builds value by combining analysis and commercial innovation with the material asset base of bp.

GLIGHTS is ST&S’s global Light ends products trading book. It's one of the most dynamic & fast-growing trading teams in ST&S, operating a global trading book model. GLIGHTS trades across multiple products such as gasoline, LPG, Naphtha, Petrochemicals which are structured under 4 main global pillars: Global Gasoline, Global Petrochemicals, Global Paper & Global GreenLights (Bio, low carbon, circular). We have teams based in London, Singapore, Chicago, Houston & Sao Paulo to drive our bold global growth agenda.

This role offers a unique opportunity to join an established book, learn the book and its relationships, and then progressively develop new activity while enhancing elements of the existing business. The role will report to the ARA Book Lead to bring value for GLIGHTS in the prompt market, while also positioning the business for sustained longer‑term success.

You will be empowered to:

  • Consistently generate fundamentally based and well thought out trading ideas in the ARA market
  • Hold accountability for external market opportunities; optimising refining and downstream assets within BP
  • Actively contribute/participate to the regional Gasoline market fundamental view
  • Keep informed of the relevant regulatory environment to ensure trading remains fully compliant and to find opportunities to extract incremental value
  • Lead physical exposures and optimise optionality across timing, location and quality
  • Actively handle pricing and basis risk versus key benchmarks and other approved instruments where appropriate
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail on trade entry and position management
  • Contribute to the strategic vision on how to build and sustainably grow the Gasoline book
  • Develop and maintain 3rd party relationships with particular focus on growing our portfolio of shorts

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
