Senior GCP APIGEE Engineer | 6 Month Contract
📍 Bristol, Leeds, Halifax, Manchester or Edinburgh | Hybrid, 2 days/week onsite 💷 Circa £480/day 🏦 Major UK banking group, Google Cloud Platform programme ⏳ 6 months
We're recruiting for a Senior GCP APIGEE Engineer to join a major UK banking group's Public Cloud Platform team, driving hands on Apigee API management and helping the business move faster and more securely on Google Cloud.
What you'll do
- Hands on development and management of the Google Apigee API Management Platform
- Design, build and deploy API proxies, policies and configurations in Apigee
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for API lifecycle management using Jenkins, GitHub Actions or Harness
- Develop and maintain API security policies (OAuth, JWT, mTLS, rate limiting, threat protection)
- Automate Apigee deployments and configurations using Infrastructure as Code
- Integrate Apigee with GCP services (Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery) for end to end solutions
- Build automated workflows and scripts for API operations using Python
- Manage API analytics, monitoring and logging for performance and compliance
- Collaborate with DevOps teams on containerised Apigee components on GKE

What you'll need
- Strong hands on experience with Google Apigee API Management
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for API deployments
- Python scripting for automation and workflow orchestration
- Experience with Jenkins, GitHub or Harness for pipeline automation
- Knowledge of GKE and container orchestration
- Understanding of API security standards and policy as code (OPA/Sentinel)

Nice to have:
- Terraform/Terraform Cloud
- GCP certification (Apigee Certified API Engineer preferred)
- Experience with IDE platforms for API development such as Backstage
