About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's engineering team and play a key role in delivering strategic cloud transformation initiatives across their payments platform. This position will be heavily involved in an initial on-premises to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) migration, helping modernise critical infrastructure that underpins secure, scalable, and highly available financial services.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on designing, building, and implementing solutions, rather than operational support. Once projects are delivered, responsibility for ongoing support is transitioned to the TechOps team, allowing engineers to remain focused on innovation and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the migration of infrastructure and services from on-premises environments to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Design, build, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure aligned with security, compliance, and availability requirements within a regulated financial environment.
- Deploy and manage Kubernetes-based platforms to support containerised applications and microservices.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code and DevOps best practices.
- Provide deep technical expertise across Linux-based systems and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with software engineering, architecture, security, and platform teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Ensure platform designs meet the performance, resilience, and governance standards expected within financial services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
