Our client is looking for an experienced GCP Data Architect / Solution Architect to design and govern enterprise-scale cloud and data solutions supporting a major finance transformation programme. This role combines strategic solution architecture with hands-on data architecture expertise. You’ll shape scalable GCP data platforms, define enterprise data models and patterns, and work closely with engineering, platform and architecture teams to ensure solutions are resilient, secure, governed and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end architecture for cloud-native data solutions on GCP.
  • Design solutions using BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer, Cloud Functions and IAM.
  • Define conceptual, logical and physical data models for financial, regulatory and operational data.
  • Establish patterns for data ingestion, transformation, storage and consumption.
  • Define architecture principles covering metadata, lineage, reference data and data stewardship.
  • Translate complex business and finance requirements into scalable enterprise data models.
  • Design cost-optimised, scalable and high-performing GCP workloads.
  • Develop reusable architecture patterns, blueprints and engineering standards.
  • Create architectural roadmaps supporting quarterly planning and wider finance transformation objectives.
  • Ensure architecture aligns with security, data governance and compliance standards.
  • Guide engineering teams through solution design and iterative delivery.
  • Participate in architecture boards, design forums and technical governance.
  • Influence CTO architects, data platform teams, product owners and transformation stakeholders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
