About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced GCP Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, monitor, and optimize our cloud-based database infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, security, performance, scalability, and reliability while supporting mission-critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain GCP database services including Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, BigQuery, AlloyDB, and PostgreSQL/MySQL environments.
  • Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations.
  • Design and implement backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries and database structures.
  • Ensure database security through access controls, encryption, auditing, and compliance best practices.
  • Automate routine DBA activities using scripting languages such as Python, Shell Script, or Terraform.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and cloud engineering teams to support application deployments.
  • Manage database capacity planning, scaling, and performance tuning initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting using Google Cloud Monitoring and Logging.
  • Support on-premises to GCP database migration and modernization projects.
  • Document database procedures, standards, and operational processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in Database Administration.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle databases.
  • Experience with database backup, recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Strong understanding of Linux/Unix administration.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Knowledge of cloud security and database governance best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Database Engineer certification.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise databases.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions such as BigQuery.
