The Role: GCP DevOps Engineer
Location: Sheffield, UK
Position Type: Contract Inside IR35
Remote work option Available: Hybrid – 2 days in a week
Job Description:
Lead the design, automation, and operation of scalable cloud-native platforms on Google Cloud, leveraging Kubernetes (GKE), Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines. Drive Infrastructure as Code, container orchestration, and DevSecOps practices to enable reliable and secure application deployments. Manage enterprise-grade CI/CD ecosystems using Jenkins, Docker, Helm, and Git-based workflows while integrating quality and security scanning tools. Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to optimize platform reliability, performance, and automation across hybrid and public cloud environments.
Your responsibilities:
- Deep knowledge on Google Cloud Platform - GCP Certification and Kubernetes Cloud Certification
- Write and maintain high-quality Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Ansible, Python, Terraform).
- Unix administration skills. Bash/shell scripting.
- CI/CD Tools and Architecture: Proficiency with tools like Jenkins and a strong understanding of pipeline service design patterns.
- Expert level Docker, Kubernetes, Helm charts expertise for managing API workload builds, integrations and deployments.
- Very good understanding on Google cloud services such as GKE, MIGs, CloudSQL, MemoryStore including integration patterns with GKE workloads.
- Good understanding on monitoring tools such as Datadog, AppDynamics, Grafana for tooling integrations
- Well conversant on git branching strategy to manage builds using Java Maven, NPM build tools and repositories like Nexus, GCR
- Kubernetes and Hosting VMs: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience managing Kubernetes clusters or virtual machines (GKE).
- Enterprise DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with enterprise DevOps environments, including networks and firewalls.
- Work with hybrid cloud and public cloud.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure, and deployment processes.
- Hands on experience on automation of build, deployments, code scanning tools such as Sonar, Checkmarx, container scan, automation of tooling integration using web services via pipelines.
- Hands on skills for building Jenkins scripted pipelines using groovy language along with as multi-branching, web hooks, credentials, permissions usage.
