Software Tools (Cheltenham)

• Maintains, supports, and improves the engineering toolchains used across NPI projects.
• You will be supported by experienced engineers and a strong learning and continuous improvement culture as you learn the toolchains, contribute to support and enhancement work, and develop through hands-on projects, mentorship, and training.
• Key responsibilities include:
  • optimising day-to-day use of engineering tools (issue triage, root cause analysis, resolution)
  • implementing and testing enhancements to improve usability, reliability, and performance
  • translating stakeholder requests into requirements, design changes, implementation, and verification
• You will document configurations, changes, known issues, and test evidence according to engineering policies, prepare and present technical findings and status updates, participate in cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement activities, and provide timely updates on risks, issues, and progress to support short-term planning and unblock delivery.

Test Systems (Cheltenham)

• You will train up to be safe in Lab and Production areas, learn full software development lifecycle processes and adhere to them.
• Track and deliver software releases on time & identify improvements to projects.

Engineering Operations Power portfolio (Cheltenham)

• Provide support across digital transformation activities, helping to drive automation, simplification, and optimisation of business processes.
• Working with the Business Change Manager, you will help run an effective operating rhythm by preparing reports and dashboards, managing digital reporting tools, dashboards, and web apps, and supporting the implementation of new digital tools.
• You will track and administer digital transformation projects and other improvement activities, document business data sources, and contribute to defining a future data analytics strategy for Engineering Operations.
• The role also involves engaging cross-functionally, facilitating process reviews and improvements, and building strong relationships across the organisation.

You will be guided by structured goals and objectives and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK.

This placement role is an intended pipeline to our Edison Engineering Development Programme (EEDP) based in Cheltenham. Towards the end of the placement year, we will open graduate applications for our current placement students with an aim to securing a role prior to the end of their placement year.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Currently studying a Computer Science/ Web Development/ Artificial Intelligence/ Data Science/ Mathematics/ Human-Computer Interaction/Graphic Design/ Embedded Software or related Bachelor’s or integrated Master’s Degree
• Passionate about Software Engineering
• Programming experience in at least one of C#, Java, or Python, with willingness to work across more than one language
• On course to achieve a 2:1 degree or above
• To be in your penultimate year of study and returning to education post placement
