Company Description

Bōkan Castle Ashby is a private haven for transformational healing located within the historic grounds of Castle Ashby in Northamptonshire. Founded by Lord and Lady Northampton, Bōkan brings together decades of expertise in psychotherapy, yoga, subtle energies, and environmental wellbeing. Lady Northampton is a dual-accredited therapist (UKCP and BACP) with extensive experience in trauma treatment through integrated mind–body approaches. Lord Northampton contributes nearly sixty years of study in frequency, energetic fields, and the relationship between people and their surroundings. Their combined work has created a distinctive continuum of care that blends complementary therapies in a tranquil, thoughtfully curated setting.

Role Description

The General Assistant is a part-time, on-site role based at Bōkan Castle Ashby in the Greater Northampton Area, United Kingdom. In this role, the General Assistant supports daily operations across the retreat, including:

Responsibilities may include basic administrative tasks, such as:

  • Handling bookings
  • Managing supplies
  • Coordinating with therapists and facilitators
  • Updating records as needed

The General Assistant will help set up rooms for sessions and events, support hospitality services such as refreshments and light catering, and provide courteous, confidential assistance to guests. The role requires flexibility to respond to changing needs during retreats and programs, while upholding the calm, respectful atmosphere that is central to Bōkan’s ethos.

Qualifications

  • Experience in general administration and reception support, including organizing schedules, managing bookings, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong customer service and hospitality skills, with the ability to welcome guests, respond to inquiries, and provide calm, professional support in a healing environment.
  • Practical facilities and housekeeping skills, such as maintaining clean and orderly spaces, managing supplies, and assisting with room setup for sessions and events.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work respectfully with diverse individuals, maintain confidentiality, and collaborate with therapists and staff.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while following guidance in a sensitive, therapeutic setting.
  • Comfort working in an on-site retreat environment, with an understanding of or interest in holistic wellbeing, complementary therapies, or mental health support.
  • Basic IT literacy (email, scheduling tools, document editing) and willingness to learn internal systems as required.
  • Previous experience in hospitality, wellness retreats, healthcare support, or similar settings is beneficial but not mandatory.
