General Building Engineer

Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the availability of critical parts for statutory tasks and manage remedial work through the CAFM system.
- Perform general and semi-skilled maintenance activities, including security systems such as CCTV and alarms.
- Conduct monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, fire hydrants, and hoses.
- Complete quarterly RCD testing and inspect Misting Units.
- Maintain fire doors and perform flushing and tap temperature tests in accordance with water risk assessments.
- Undertake monthly and annual emergency lighting checks.
- Check and test smoke vents as required to ensure operational readiness.
- Carry out any additional duties as required to support the maintenance team and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in multiple maintenance disciplines including fire safety, door maintenance, extinguisher servicing, and alarm systems.
- Knowledge of emergency lighting systems, RCD testing, and water temperature testing procedures.
- Strong IT skills, including experience with CAFM systems or similar maintenance management software.
- Relevant certifications in fire safety, electrical testing, or facilities maintenance are desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Flexibility to work on a rota basis, including 1 in 4 weekends, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.
