Job Description
As our new General Counsel and Head of Legal & Risk, you'll lead and develop a high-performing global Legal & Risk function, providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice across all areas of the business.
You'll balance risk and opportunity, shape our governance and compliance agenda, protect and maximise the value of our intellectual property, and provide strategic counsel to senior leaders. You'll also build and embed a proactive enterprise-wide risk framework that supports sustainable growth while enabling innovation.
This is a role for someone who enjoys thinking strategically whilst remaining close to the commercial realities of a fast-moving international business.
As a senior leadership role, regular in-person collaboration is important. Whilst we offer significant flexibility in where work is undertaken, you'll be expected to spend time in our Dundee office at least once every fortnight to build relationships, influence key stakeholders, and support the wider leadership team.

- Act as a trusted adviser to senior leaders on legal, governance, compliance, and risk matters.
- Build and embed a proactive enterprise risk management framework, governance structures, and supporting committees.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, licensing agreements, and strategic partnerships.
- Protect and maximise the value of our intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, patents, copyrights, and product innovations.
- Support the registration, protection, and commercialisation of new products across international markets.
- Oversee commercial disputes, contentious matters, and litigation, developing practical mitigation strategies where required.
- Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the organisation.
- Foster a strong culture of governance, compliance, and risk awareness across the business.
- Partner closely with senior stakeholders to support strategic growth plans, acquisitions, partnerships, and new business initiatives.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Legal team, creating an environment where people can thrive and perform at their best.
- Manage budgets and external legal relationships to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
