A highly prestigious international real estate investment and development organisation is seeking an experienced General Counsel- Real Estate to lead its legal function across Europe and the Americas.
This is a rare opportunity to join a major global organisation with a significant real estate portfolio, providing strategic legal leadership across complex investments, developments, joint ventures, financing arrangements, asset management initiatives and disposals. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to senior executives and boards, helping to shape business strategy while ensuring robust governance and risk management.
The Role
Reporting to senior executive leadership, you will:
- Lead and manage the regional legal function across Europe and the Americas.
- Provide commercial, pragmatic legal advice on complex real estate investments, developments and operational matters.
- Support acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, financings, restructurings and major commercial transactions.
- Advise boards and senior stakeholders on governance, legal risk and strategic decision-making.
- Oversee dispute resolution, litigation strategy and contentious matters.
- Manage relationships with external legal advisers and control legal budgets.
- Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
About You
You will be a qualified lawyer with:
- Approximately 15+ years' post-qualification experience.
- Significant senior in-house legal leadership experience.
- A strong background in real estate, development, construction, infrastructure, or a similarly complex asset-based environment. Real Estate essential.
- Experience advising executive leadership teams and boards on strategic legal and commercial matters.
- Expertise in complex transactions, joint ventures, financing arrangements and commercial contracts.
- Proven experience managing material disputes, external counsel and cross-border legal matters.
- Excellent commercial judgement, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
