Hays Civil Engineering

Hays Civil Engineering are recruiting for an experienced General Foreman to join a major water infrastructure project involving the installation of a major pipeline installation.

We are seeking a proactive site leader with a strong background in water, utilities or heavy civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will have previous experience supervising tunnelling activities, deep excavations, shaft works and teams operating within confined space environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise daily construction activities across multiple work areas
  • Lead direct labour and subcontractors to deliver works safely, on time and to specification
  • Coordinate pipeline, tunnelling and associated civil engineering operations
  • Ensure all confined space activities are planned, controlled and carried out safely
  • Conduct site briefings, toolbox talks and safety inspections
  • Monitor productivity, quality standards and programme performance
  • Liaise with Site Agents, Engineers and Project Managers to ensure smooth site operations
  • Promote a positive health, safety and environmental culture throughout the project

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a General Foreman on water, utilities or major civil engineering projects
  • Strong experience delivering pipeline installation works
  • Experience supervising tunnelling or shaft construction
  • Proven track record managing teams working in confined spaces
  • Medium or High Risk Confined Spaces Certification (City & Guilds, EUSR or equivalent)
  • SSSTS or SMSTS
  • CSCS Card
