You will be joining a well-established and highly respected civil engineering contractor based in Birmingham, renowned for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects across the Midlands region. This award-winning and multi-accredited contractor is well-known for their commitment to quality, safety and innovation as well as valuing its people and investing in their professional development. They have a strong pipeline of work, offer excellent opportunities for career progression and, as part of their continued growth, they are actively seeking a General Foreman to join their delivery team.
This is a full-time permanent position based initially on a pumping station project in the Birmingham area.
Your new role
As General Foreman, you will take responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of construction activities across the project. Working closely with the Project Manager, you will lead operational teams, coordinate subcontractors and ensure works are delivered to programme, budget and quality requirements.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing daily site operations and supervising multiple work fronts
- Leading Foremen, supervisors, operatives and subcontractors on site
- Planning and coordinating labour, plant and materials to maximise productivity
- Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with HSEQ standards
- Driving programme delivery and identifying solutions to maintain project milestones
- Leading site briefings, toolbox talks and daily coordination meetings
- Monitoring progress and reporting on productivity, programme and resource requirements
- Working closely with engineering and commercial teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Maintaining strong relationships with client representatives and key stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful, you must have:
- Proven experience as a General Foreman within civil engineering
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, deep excavations, drainage, pipework and associated heavy civils works
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, direct labour and site resources simultaneously
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and programmes and translate them into effective site delivery
- Sound leadership, communication and organisational skills
- CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid and a full UK driving licence.
