About The Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Senior General Foreman to lead construction delivery activities across a defined section of works. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with programme, quality and commercial requirements.
As a senior member of the site management team, you will lead Foremen, Supervisors, Gangers and delivery teams, coordinating resources, managing subcontractors and driving productivity across multiple work fronts. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven construction leader to play a key role in delivering major infrastructure and construction projects.
What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Lead construction delivery activities to achieve programme, productivity and quality targets.
- Coordinate multiple work fronts, subcontractors and site resources to ensure efficient delivery.
- Lead and promote a strong health, safety and environmental culture, maintaining a relentless focus on Zero Harm.
- Carry out Safety & Environment Tours and contribute to accident and incident investigations.
- Ensure safe systems of work are implemented, understood and consistently followed.
- Monitor project progress and implement recovery actions where required.
- Lead short interval planning processes and performance reviews.
- Drive achievement of project KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Implement quality management systems and ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plans.
- Promote a Right First Time culture across all site activities.
- Support commercial performance through accurate reporting, resource management and productivity monitoring.
- Manage labour, plant and material resources to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.
- Lead, motivate and develop Foremen, Supervisors and site delivery teams.
- Coach and mentor emerging construction leaders and support workforce development.
Act as the senior operational lead for assigned works and deputise for the Works Manager where
Who we're looking for
Essential
- Proven experience leading site delivery teams on major infrastructure or construction projects.
- Previous experience in a Senior General Foreman, General Foreman or similar leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of construction delivery, resource planning and site operations.
- Excellent understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and safe systems of work.
- Experience carrying out Safety & Environment Tours and leading workforce briefings.
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple work fronts.
- Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills.
- Ability to motivate teams and drive high performance.
- Experience implementing quality processes, Inspection and Test Plans and Right First Time principles.
- Strong commercial awareness, including labour, plant and productivity management.
- Proficient IT skills.
- CSCS Card.
- SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including nights and weekends where required.

- Experience delivering high-profile road, highways or major infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts and other standard forms of contract.
- Experience leading large multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions.
- Experience taking ownership of works from initial delivery through to successful handover.
- Experience mentoring and developing future construction leaders.
