Operating a modern fleet of more than 20 vehicles, the company delivers goods from single pallets to full loads safely and on time. Baynes & Son Haulage is a member of leading industry networks such as Palletforce, supporting continued growth and flexible, dependable transport solutions.

Role Description

The General Haulage Driver role is a full-time, on-site position based in Llandygai. The driver will be responsible for safely operating company vehicles to transport goods, including pallets and general freight, across North Wales and the UK. Day-to-day tasks include:

The role involves adhering to all road safety regulations, driver hours legislation, and company policies, while maintaining a professional standard of customer service. Drivers are expected to handle goods carefully, manage time effectively, and support the wider team when operational needs require.

Qualifications

  • Valid LGV/HGV licence (e.g., Class 2 or Class 1), up-to-date Driver CPC, and a clean or low-risk driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of UK road networks, driving regulations, and safe loading and securing practices.
  • Ability to complete delivery notes, manifests, and basic transport documentation accurately.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with the transport office, warehouse staff, and customers.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a professional attitude toward safety, vehicle care, and customer service.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to follow schedules and work to deadlines.
  • Physical capability to assist with loading, unloading, and moving goods where required.
  • Previous experience in general haulage, pallet distribution, or logistics is advantageous but not essential.
