The Role
We are seeking a German-speaking General Ledger Accountant to support our operations across Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
This is a fully remote role based in the UK, requiring fluency in both German and English. Reporting into the Finance function, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting activities.

As a General Ledger Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting financial reporting across multiple entities.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and posting journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments.
- Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, including intercompany transactions and fixed asset accounting.
- Supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Reviewing profit and loss and balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Preparing and submitting monthly VAT reports and returns.
- Assisting with statutory accounts, management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS, local accounting regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and drive standardisation across the finance function.
- Collaborating with finance colleagues and stakeholders across multiple countries and business units.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Fluency in German and English (essential).
- A professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CPA) or active progress towards qualification is preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in General Ledger Accounting, Record-to-Report (R2R), or Financial Accounting.
- Experience working within a Shared Services Centre (SSC) or multinational organisation is advantageous.
- Experience supporting multiple legal entities and working with international stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
