Summary
NG Bailey Facilities Services are recruiting for a General Maintenance Operative on one of our prestigious contracts, covering two high-quality office buildings based in Embankment Place and More London.
Are you looking for a career rather than just a job? Do you want to develop your skills, gain experience across a varied commercial environment and have genuine opportunities for training and progression?
If you are looking for a role where you can build your knowledge, take on more responsibility and develop your career in Facilities Services, then this could be the opportunity for you.
You will work as part of a professional facilities team, gaining exposure to a broad range of building services, maintenance activities and client requirements across two prestigious sites.
Key deliverables in this role will include:
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM), compliance checks and assigned reactive tasks within your level of competence and agreed service levels.
- Carry out routine M&E activities, including emergency lighting checks, plant room inspections and low-level maintenance.
- Conduct daily floor walks and resolve minor fabric and space issues, including lamp replacement, window and door repairs, blocked sinks, toilet seat repairs and heating checks.
- Support client-facing room / suite set-ups to criteria set by the business and event teams.
- Complete water hygiene and water treatment tasks in accordance with the applicable Approved Code of Practice (ACOP).
- Undertake minor project works, building fabric repairs and redecoration, keeping the premises and grounds ready for occupation.
- Maintain plant, plant rooms, tools and stock to a high standard, reporting defects and replenishment needs promptly.
- Coordinate and monitor subcontractors, ensuring compliance with documentation, access permit and site requirements.
- Support local building improvements, accommodation changes and room set-ups for meetings, events and conferences.
- Use Concept (MRI) and other reporting systems to update tasks, records and supporting documentation accurately.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
