The Cyclist - General Manager – Award Winning Pub and Restaurant Company - London – Live-In
The Cyclist is a modern British pub just across the road from Balham Station. With an all-day food offering during the week, Saturday brunch and Sunday lunch, it’s the ideal place for a few pints, a quick bite, or dinner with friends and family. Our street-side terrace is made for al fresco drinking and dining.
Our all-day food offering focuses on seasonality and sharing – from small plates to hearty gastropub classics – Behind the bar, you'll find the best of London’s craft beer scene, classic cocktails, small-batch gins and artisan wines.
Urban Pubs & Bars are currently recruiting for a talented and highly skilled General Manager with personality and charisma for our expanding group. With an eclectic mix of properties and new openings to suit your personality and style, this really is an exciting time to join a people-focused and progressive, operations-led business.
The Role
As GM, you will take full ownership of all aspects of running the venue. You will be given autonomy and run the site as if it were your own business.

- Being business-savvy and demonstrating great commercial acumen is a must.
- Your team will look up to you, so it's essential to train, nurture and develop your staff to maintain incredibly high standards and customer satisfaction.
- You have impeccable floor, bar and late-night experience.
- You will be given the opportunity to train, personally develop and progress your career as the company continues to grow.
What We’re Looking For
- “Wear your heart on your sleeve”, take ownership, be bold and run the business as if it's your own.
- Be cool, calm and collected, manage pressure with ease, and don't let anything faze you.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a General Manager, depending on the property being considered.
- Solid communication and organisational skills, with an approachable personality.
- Superb customer and floor-service skills.
- Excellent all-round business knowledge, from financials to customer satisfaction.
- An entrepreneurial flair.
- Passionate about people, training, mentoring and growing a team, but most importantly, someone who loves to have fun.
- Personal Licence holder beneficial.
