General Manager - Core City, City of London
Salary - Up to £58,000 p.a.
About Us
Stonegate Group is the UK’s largest operator of pubs, bars, and late-night venues, including Slug & Lettuce, Be At One, and Popworld, to name a few. We’re proud of our diverse portfolio and deeply committed to creating an inclusive culture that embraces individuality in all its forms—including neurodiversity. By fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported, we reflect the vibrant communities we serve and empower our people to thrive.
The Opportunity
Sitting in the heart of the City, next to Bank station. Core is the place people head to for after-work drinks, celebrations, corporate events and late-night entertainment as well as soaking up the sun on our spacious terrace.
It's a fast-paced, high-energy business, trading Monday - Friday, with late night trading until 3am on a Thursday. The business evolves throughout the day, from social gatherings and booked events to a lively nightclub atmosphere when the evening kicks in.
About You
We're looking for a General Manager who can take full ownership of the venue and drive it to the next level.
- This is a role for someone who loves the commercial side of hospitality as much as they love creating great guest experiences. You'll know how to build sales, grow corporate bookings, increase pre-booked revenue and ensure every opportunity to drive the business forward is maximised. You'll be comfortable owning the P&L, understanding the numbers behind the operation and turning insight into action.
- Just as importantly, you'll be a leader who gets the best from people. You'll be visible on the floor, setting standards, motivating your team and creating an environment where great hospitality comes naturally. You'll understand that atmosphere doesn't happen by accident and that the best venues are built by engaged, well-trained teams who genuinely enjoy what they do.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We're looking for an experienced General Manager who has delivered results in high volume bars or late-night venues. Experience within the City of London market would be a real advantage, as would an understanding of local licensing requirements and the corporate customer base that drives so much of the area's trade.
If you're commercially sharp, passionate about hospitality, confident driving sales, comfortable leading from the front and always looking for the next opportunity to grow the business, we'd love to hear from you.
So, if you're a General Manager with a finger on the pulse, a talent for building teams, a flair for sales driving and the ability to create memorable experiences while delivering outstanding results, this could be your next move.
Please Note: To be eligible to apply, you MUST hold a valid Personal Licence.
