A Day in the Life of a General Manager

As General Manager reporting to Director of Operations, you will be the driving force behind the success of the hotel. You'll lead from the front, creating an engaging culture where colleagues feel empowered, guests receive exceptional experiences and commercial performance exceeds expectations.

You will have full responsibility for all aspects of the hotel's operation, leading your team to achieve outstanding guest satisfaction, financial performance and employee engagement results.

What You'll Be Doing...

  • Leading and inspiring the hotel team to deliver exceptional guest experiences every day.
  • Taking full accountability for the hotel's commercial performance, profitability and market positioning.
  • Developing and implementing strategic business plans to maximise revenue and profitability across all departments.
  • Creating a high performance culture through coaching, mentoring and developing future leaders.
  • Building strong relationships with owners, key stakeholders, local businesses and community partners.
  • Driving guest satisfaction through operational excellence and a relentless focus on service quality.
  • Managing all aspects of budgeting, forecasting and financial control.
  • Monitoring market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ensuring the hotel consistently meets Hilton brand standards and RBH operational expectations.
  • Championing employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
  • Leading recruitment, succession planning and talent development programmes across the hotel.
  • Working closely with regional support teams to drive innovation, efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Acting as the face of the hotel within Manchester's business and hospitality community.
  • Delivering a safe, compliant and well-maintained environment for guests and colleagues.

What We Need From You

  • Previous experience as a General Manager within the hotel industry.
  • A proven track record of delivering strong financial and commercial results.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts and business plans.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A passion for creating memorable guest experiences and driving service excellence.
  • Experience building a positive culture focused on engagement, accountability and performance.
  • The ability to confidently analyse performance data and make strategic decisions.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations across all departments.
  • A proactive, resilient and solutions-focused approach.
  • Experience working within branded hotel environments would be advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and developing people.
