Pub General Manager - Big Personality. Proper Potential.

Richmond, South West London | £50,000–£55,000 | Full-time, Permanent

Can you spot what’s holding a pub back - and get the whole team behind putting it right?

We’re looking for a General Manager with presence, commercial bite and a knack for getting a business firing again.

The Setting

A stylish, high-volume Richmond pub where food, drink and atmosphere all matter. There’s an established local following and plenty to work with, but the business is performing below its potential. It needs someone who can see the opportunity, set a clear direction and make things happen.

Your Next Project

You’ll take ownership of the operation, get under the skin of the numbers and work out where the biggest improvements can be made. Then you’ll bring the team with you.

From the welcome at the door to the pace behind the bar, the consistency coming out of the kitchen and the reasons customers choose to come back, you’ll connect great hospitality with better results.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You’ll Be the Person Who:

  • Builds a practical turnaround plan, with clear priorities and a team that understands them.
  • Drives food and drink sales, grows repeat business and makes the most of the pub’s local following.
  • Gets a grip on labour, stock, wastage and margins, making decisions that improve profitability.
  • Coaches managers, develops talent and tackles slipping standards with clarity and fairness.
  • Leads visibly through busy services, keeping the bar, floor and kitchen working together.
  • Keeps licensing, food safety and health and safety standards firmly on track.

What We’re Looking For:

You know your way around a busy pub - and a P&L

We’re particularly keen to hear from experienced General Managers from branded pub groups, where strong food sales, a lively bar and consistently good service go hand in hand.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience running a high-volume pub with a substantial food and drink trade.
  • Evidence of improving an underperforming business, rebuilding a team or delivering a meaningful uplift in sales and profit.
  • The confidence to make decisions, have honest conversations and follow through.
  • A feel for atmosphere: you can read the room as confidently as you read the figures.
  • An approachable, hands-on style that earns the trust of your team and your regulars.
  • The patience and persistence to turn early improvements into lasting results.
