At Black Tap, we're all about crafting memorable experiences - for our guests, and for the team that makes it happen. We're growing fast, and we're looking for a General Manager who can lead a restaurant like it's their own: someone curious, energetic, ambitious and caring, who takes ownership and brings people along with them.
If that sounds like you, we want to meet you!
THE ROLE
As General Manager, you'll run the day-to-day operations of the restaurant, from the guest experience on the floor to the numbers behind the scenes. You'll build a crew with real chemistry, hit your operational and financial targets, and keep the Black Tap standard of craft burgers, crazy shakes and good times alive at every shift.
You'll be responsible for:
- Full P&L ownership: labour, COGS, controllables, and driving profitable sales
- Hiring, training and developing the team delivering Black Tap's signature guest experience
- Leading pre-shifts, being present during service, and solving problems in real time
- Maintaining health, safety and compliance standards (food safety, licensing, H&S)
- Stock take management, ordering and supplier relationships
- Driving a positive, fun and high-energy culture
- Partnering with People Ops on ER matters, scheduling, payroll accuracy and policy compliance
- Community presence to build the restaurant's reputation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
