General Manager - HVAC
£70,000–£90,000 Basic Salary + Executive Benefits
Lead an Established Engineering Business into Its Next Chapter
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established engineering business that designs, manufactures and installs market-leading ventilation and extraction systems for industrial customers across the UK.
Following many successful years leading the business, the current Managing Director is stepping back from the day-to-day operation, creating an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Manager to take full operational ownership and drive the next phase of growth.
This isn't a corporate leadership role with multiple management layers. It's a hands-on position where you'll have real autonomy, close customer relationships and the ability to influence every part of the business.
The Role
Reporting to the owners, you'll assume responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of the business, overseeing manufacturing, workshop operations, installation, engineering, commercial performance and customer delivery.
Working alongside the outgoing Managing Director during a structured handover, you'll quickly develop an in-depth understanding of the business before taking full responsibility for operational performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
