As a General Manager, you'll take full ownership of your club's performance, leading across sales, service, operations, and people development. You'll create an environment where colleagues thrive, members achieve their goals, and commercial results follow.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead from the front, inspire high-performing teams, and deliver an outstanding member experience while driving sustainable business growth.

Reporting into the Area Manager, you'll be accountable for every aspect of club performance, from membership growth and profitability to operational excellence and colleague development.

Job Description

The Role

As General Manager, you'll be responsible for the overall performance and day-to-day operation of your club.

You'll lead a team focused on delivering exceptional member experiences, commercial success, and operational excellence while creating a culture built on accountability, development, and continuous improvement.

Lead & Develop High-Performing Teams

  • Recruit, develop, and retain talented colleagues across all areas of the club
  • Create a culture of accountability, engagement, and high performance
  • Deliver regular coaching, development, and performance conversations
  • Support succession planning and career progression within your team
  • Lead by example through visibility, professionalism, and energy

Drive Commercial Performance

  • Own club performance across memberships, retention, secondary spend, and profitability
  • Deliver sustainable membership growth through strong sales leadership
  • Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Support the delivery of local marketing and member acquisition initiatives
  • Take ownership of revenue growth and commercial decision-making

Deliver Outstanding Member Experiences

  • Create a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive environment for every member
  • Ensure consistent delivery of Everlast Gyms' member experience standards
  • Build a culture that puts members at the centre of every decision
  • Drive member satisfaction, engagement, and retention
  • Lead by example on the gym floor and within the club

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee all daily, weekly, and monthly operational processes
  • Ensure company standards are maintained across every area of the club
  • Drive exceptional presentation, cleanliness, and safety standards
  • Ensure company initiatives, programmes, and campaigns are delivered successfully
  • Maintain effective cost control and operational efficiency

Compliance & Health & Safety

  • Take responsibility for Health & Safety and regulatory compliance
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed
  • Oversee pool plant operations where applicable
  • Manage risk effectively while maintaining a safe environment for members and colleagues

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum one year's management experience within the fitness, leisure, hospitality, or retail sectors
  • Proven experience leading and developing successful teams
  • Strong commercial awareness with a track record of achieving business targets
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences
  • Ability to analyse performance data and drive improvements
  • Positive, resilient, and solutions-focused mindset
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays when required

Desirable

  • Experience within a fitness or leisure environment
  • Level 2 Fitness Qualification
  • Understanding of membership sales, retention, and club operations
  • Pool plant and Health & Safety experience
