Up to £90,000 OTE (depending on experience) + Company Car

Performance Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead a successful franchised car dealership in the Oxfordshire area.

This is an exciting senior leadership opportunity for a highly credible, proactive and results-focused automotive professional with a proven track record of successfully managing a franchised dealership.

The Role

As General Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the performance of the dealership, leading the Sales, Aftersales and support functions to deliver strong financial results, exceptional customer satisfaction and sustainable business growth.

You will take full responsibility for the dealership’s commercial and operational performance, implementing the strategic vision of both the dealer group and manufacturer while developing a high-performing management team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall performance and day-to-day operation of the franchised dealership.
  • Develop and implement the dealership business plan across Sales, Aftersales and support functions.
  • Deliver agreed revenue, profitability, market share and manufacturer targets.
  • Monitor and manage departmental KPIs on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Control cash flow, vehicle stock, working capital and dealership assets.
  • Drive new and used vehicle sales performance and maximise Aftersales profitability.
  • Ensure consistently high levels of customer satisfaction across all areas of the business.
  • Develop and agree marketing strategies to increase brand awareness, customer retention and dealership performance.
  • Provide regular performance reporting to senior management and implement agreed actions to achieve business objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturer and franchise representatives.
  • Lead the recruitment, training and development of dealership employees.
  • Coach and develop departmental managers to maximise individual and team performance.
  • Ensure company and manufacturer policies, procedures and financial controls are consistently followed.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of legislation, FCA requirements and compliance affecting the automotive retail sector.

About You

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ recent experience as a General Manager within a franchised car dealership.
  • A proven track record of delivering strong commercial and financial results.
  • Strong knowledge of both Sales and Aftersales operations.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching and people-management skills.
  • The ability to develop and execute strategic business plans.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budgets, forecasts, KPIs and profitability.
  • A proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing management team.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A strong customer-focused approach with a commitment to delivering exceptional standards.
  • A thorough understanding of automotive retail processes, compliance and industry legislation.
  • A stable career history with no more than 3 employers within the last 6 years.
