An exciting opportunity to lead a unique Manchester lifestyle hotel through an extensive refurbishment and successful relaunch.
We are seeking an experienced, energetic and commercially driven General Manager to lead a 61-bedroom lifestyle hotel in the heart of Manchester.
This is a rare opportunity for an accomplished hotel leader to take ownership of an established property at an exciting point in its journey. You will play a pivotal role in leading the hotel through its refurbishment and repositioning, before driving a successful relaunch and establishing it as a standout destination within the Manchester market.
Combining strong operational expertise with commercial acumen, you will have full responsibility for the hotel's performance, people and guest experience. You will be a highly visible, hands-on leader who sets clear standards, develops a high-performing team and creates a culture of accountability, energy and exceptional hospitality.
The Role
As General Manager, you will take overall responsibility for the successful operation and commercial performance of the hotel.
Working closely with key stakeholders, you will help shape the hotel's next chapter, ensuring the refurbishment and relaunch translate into an exceptional guest proposition and a commercially successful business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the hotel through its refurbishment, repositioning and relaunch, ensuring operational readiness and a seamless transition into the new proposition.
- Take full responsibility for the day-to-day operation and overall performance of the hotel.
- Deliver an exceptional and distinctive guest experience aligned with the hotel's lifestyle positioning.
- Own the hotel's financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, revenue generation, profitability and cost control.
- Drive occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and overall revenue through effective commercial and revenue strategies.
- Lead, coach and develop departmental leaders, creating a motivated, accountable and high-performing team.
- Maintain a strong presence throughout the hotel, leading from the front and supporting operational teams when required.
- Oversee Rooms Division, ensuring excellent standards across Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations and Guest Services.
- Establish and continuously improve operating standards, procedures and service delivery.
- Use guest feedback, financial results and operational data to identify opportunities and drive performance improvements.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety, employment, licensing and other statutory requirements.
- Build strong relationships with local businesses, partners and the wider Manchester hospitality community.
- Champion the hotel's reputation and positioning within the local market.

About You
We are looking for an experienced hotel operator who combines strong leadership, commercial thinking and genuine passion for hospitality.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Hotel General Manager, Hotel Manager or senior operational leader within a quality hotel environment.
- Strong Rooms Division experience, with an excellent understanding of Front Office, Housekeeping, Reservations and Revenue Management.
- A proven track record of delivering strong commercial results and achieving financial targets.
- Experience of a hotel opening, refurbishment, repositioning or significant operational change would be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of hotel KPIs, including occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, payroll and profitability.
- An engaging and hands-on leadership style, with the confidence to lead from the front.
- Excellent people leadership skills and a track record of recruiting, coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to turn performance data into practical action.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively with owners, stakeholders, suppliers and commercial partners.
- A genuine passion for creating memorable guest experiences and building successful hotel businesses.
