Role Overview
The General Manager & Commercial Director is SITA's most senior representative at Manchester Airports Group (MAG), holding end-to-end accountability for the strategic leadership, commercial success and operational performance of the MAG account across Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands.
This is the single empowered leader at the heart of the partnership — a director-equivalent role, new to the model, that combines commercial accountability, deep customer relationship management and full operational leadership. It exists to give MAG one accountable partner: one leader who owns the outcome, one structure responsible for delivery, and one operating rhythm that governs how the service performs, improves and evolves. The role drives revenue growth and customer satisfaction while leading the transition to, and maturity of, the managed service (ITO) model that positions SITA as MAG's strategic long-term partner.
Key Objectives
- Lead all commercial activities for the MAG account
- Act as SITA's senior site leader and single point of accountability for service performance across MAN, STN and EMA, working in full collaboration with MAG Ops senior management.
- Embed and mature the partnership, positioning SITA as MAG's strategic long-term partner and the showcase EURO reference for managed services.
- Own the longer-term direction of the partnership, connecting day-to-day delivery to MAG's future ambitions, including airline onboarding, the Stansted transformation, Terminal 3 planning and wider service expansion under Nexus: Expand.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Leadership
- Serve as the trusted advisor to MAG, developing and maintaining deep CxO-level relationships.
- Formulate and execute a strategic business plan aligned with MAG's mission, values and growth objectives.
- Lead all sales and business development activities, ensuring sustainable, profitable growth and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, particularly those extending the managed service and enabling Nexus: Expand into adjacent domains.
- Own the commercial model, including the rebate framework, Innovation Fund governance and value-return mechanisms, promoting SITA's full value proposition against MAG's strategic priorities and sustainability goals.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Experience leading diverse, matrix-based international teams and running an integrated operational delivery structure.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Highly customer-focused, proactive and results-driven leader with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
