Job Description
We now have an exciting opportunity for a General Manager to join our Minworth site. This role will support the Senior Management team in the development and delivery of the business/strategic plans for the site and to oversee the management and achievement of operational KPIs for the Evesham Operation.
Key Duties of a General Manager:
- Maintain and continuously look to improve customer service levels and ensure the required KPI and D.O.T levels are achieved
- Ensure the budgetary controls are managed and to take responsibility for ensuring the weekly P&L is in line with and planned to exceed budgetary expectations
- Maintain relationships with existing customers to ensure all their service requirements are met
- Identify business opportunities with both existing customers and prospective new customers and prepare business proposals
- Create appropriate customer solutions and own implementation of that new business, coordinating internal and external activities.
- Liaise with other sites to provide ‘whole service solutions’ to both existing and prospective customers
- Monitor costs against budget and pro-actively look for ways to make the business more efficient
- Oversee the control of the Operation through the management team to ensure all operational matters are owned and resolved efficiently and in line with all legal requirements
- Ensure the transport fleet/all assets are operated in a commercially viable way
- Coach and develop reporting Managers in people management activities and oversee the implementation of a people training/development plan to assist succession planning
- Devise and manage a continuous improvement policy
- Oversee and review the self bill process on a weekly basis, ensuring all areas to improve margin and own fleet utilisation is optimised at all times
- Oversee the driver development plan and ensure the management of the drivers and subcontractors is managed efficiently, legally and at the lowest cost
- Work alongside the Transport & Warehouse Managers to ensure communication, best practice and efficiency is continually reviewed and improved
- Enforce the highest standards of safety and hygiene, in conjunction with appropriate colleagues, to ensure that Company procedures are followed
- Overall responsibility for BRC requirements of the site and ensure the Operation adheres to the demands of this
- Engage in customer liaison on a pro-active basis and as required by team members, colleagues and senior management
- Attend regular key customer review meetings and contribute to new business set up activities

Qualifications

- Be an established Manager with strong commercial business acumen
- Commercially focused, customer service driven and bottom-line oriented
- Have the ability to maximise financial performance
- Principles and methods of FMCG industry, including the relative costs, charges and benefits
- Experience of a multi-modal fleet including temperature controlled.
- Comprehensive knowledge of major retailer supply chain requirements
- Significant experience of developing management teams within a similar operation
- Warehouse management
- Industry and Health & Safety legislation
- Customer Understanding
- Flexibility in Thinking & Approach
