General Manager – The Landor Hotel, Solihull
The Landor is built around a simple idea.
Focus on the essentials and do them properly.
We're creating a hotel designed for modern travellers who value reliability, consistency and a well-considered stay.
No unnecessary extras. No overcomplication. Just the things that matter, done right.
As we prepare to open The Landor Solihull, we're looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the 84-bed hotel from pre-opening through to launch and beyond.
This is a hands-on leadership role with real responsibility from day one.
You'll build the team, establish the operating standards, oversee the hotel, restaurant and café, and help shape what The Landor becomes.
The Role
Opening a hotel is different from running an established one.
We're looking for someone who enjoys building things from the ground up.
Someone who can move between recruitment interviews, supplier meetings, operational planning and service delivery without losing sight of the details.
You'll work closely with stakeholders throughout the pre-opening period and take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the hotel once open.
The role covers:
- Hotel operations
- Food and beverage operations
- Team recruitment and development
- Commercial performance
- Guest experience
- Local business development
- Compliance and standards
Ultimately, you'll be responsible for ensuring the hotel runs properly, the team performs well, and guests leave confident they've made the right choice.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
