About the Role
We are looking for a General Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of our passenger transport operation. This is a hands-on management position combining operational leadership, staff management, client relationships and business development. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the smooth, safe and efficient running of the business while helping us identify and secure new opportunities for growth. The role will suit someone with strong experience in passenger transport, bus or coach operations who is comfortable taking responsibility, managing people and getting involved in the operation when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and organise office and supervisory staff.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation of the passenger transport business.
- Ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
- Coordinate operational requirements and respond effectively to issues as they arise.
- Support and develop relationships with existing clients.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and assist with the acquisition of new contracts.
- Contribute to the commercial growth and development of the business.
- Manage and support the operational team, promoting high standards of professionalism and customer service.
- Participate in the management on-call rota.
- Undertake operational driving duties when required.
- Ensure relevant company procedures, legal requirements and industry standards are followed.
- Support the continued development and improvement of the overall operation.

Requirements
- Passenger Transport CPC – Certificate of Professional Competence.
- Proven management experience within passenger transport, bus or coach operations.
- Strong understanding of day-to-day passenger transport operations.
- Excellent organisational, leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate office and supervisory teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to business development and client acquisition.
- Ability and willingness to undertake operational driving duties when required.
- Valid DBS clearance, or willingness and ability to obtain and maintain the required DBS clearance.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rota.
- Must live in Ipswich or within approximately 20–30 minutes' commuting distance, or be genuinely willing to relocate.
