Our job is to make the green travel choice the best choice. By building a better train travel experience, we help more people choose rail - creating a positive impact for customers, our business, and the planet.

We’re a team of more than 1,000 Trainliners from over 50 nationalities, working across London, Paris, Barcelona, Milan, Edinburgh, and Madrid. Now is a brilliant time to join us and help shape the future of travel.

Introducing the Trainline Media Team 👋

Trainline Media is an emerging part of Trainline's strategy, with real momentum behind it. The team brings together sales, advertising operations, client success, and strategy, and is moving from an early pilot into its next phase of growth. It sits within a business where advertising is one part of a broader, operationally focused whole. This role suits someone who enjoys building: shaping team culture, defining how the function works, and making thoughtful, steady progress.

As General Manager, Trainline Media, you will work closely with colleagues across the business, taking the time to understand how Trainline operates and aligning change with its wider priorities. In your first six to twelve months, you will help sharpen how Trainline Media presents itself to the market, focus the team on the right priorities, and put in place the operational foundations needed to grow, balancing commercial growth with operational effectiveness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In this role as the General Manager, Trainline Media, you will...

🚄 Set the direction for Trainline Media, shaping its proposition, target market, and growth priorities so it becomes a trusted travel media offering. 🚄 Take ownership of Trainline Media's revenue targets, working with senior stakeholders to align its goals with wider business priorities. 🚄 Partner with colleagues across Product, Data, PR, and Marketing to develop the proposition and bring it to market. 🚄 Represent Trainline Media externally, building awareness and credibility with the media and advertising buying community through an active industry presence. 🚄 Lead and grow a team of more than ten people across sales, advertising operations, client success, and strategy, creating a culture where people want to join and develop. 🚄 Design the operating model, processes, and measures needed to scale the business, including client delivery and billing, using data and AI tools to help the team work smarter. 🚄 Balance commercial growth with operational effectiveness, so the function delivers sustainably as it grows.

We'd love to hear from you if you have...🔍

  • Experience building and scaling a media or advertising function, ideally within a larger, operationally focused consumer technology business.
  • A solid understanding of brand media, with the ability to position and grow an emerging proposition. Experience across performance media is also helpful if you have it.
  • Experience leading and growing large teams, and creating an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Experience owning revenue targets and designing the processes, operating rhythms, and measures that support sustainable, scalable growth.
  • Sound judgement in balancing competing priorities, working constructively in a business where advertising is one of several revenue streams, and turning ambiguity into clear priorities and practical action.
  • A collaborative, diplomatic leadership style, with the ability to build trust and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Curiosity about how data and AI tools can improve the way a team works, and ideally some experience putting them to use.
  • An active presence in the media industry, or a keen interest in building one, and the confidence to represent the business externally.
