Our Hereford Based Client Is Looking For a General Mechanic To Work On a Full-time Basis On a Permanent Contract. Please See The Below Details

We are looking for a reliable and skilled General Mechanic to join our workshop team, working on a variety of cars, vans, motorhomes and leisure vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and ensuring all vehicles are maintained to a safe, roadworthy and high-quality standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on cars, vans and motorhomes.
  • Diagnose faults using experience, technical knowledge and diagnostic equipment.
  • Repair or replace components including brakes, suspension, steering, exhausts, clutches, batteries and general engine parts.
  • Carry out pre-delivery inspections, safety checks and road tests where required.
  • Undertake basic motorhome-related repairs and checks, including habitation related items where trained and competent.
  • Identify additional work required and communicate findings clearly to the workshop or service team.
  • Complete electronic job cards, service records and inspection paperwork accurately.
  • Maintain tools, equipment and the workshop area in a clean, organised and safe condition.
  • Work in line with company procedures, health and safety requirements and industry standards.
  • Support colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive, professional workshop environment.

Skills And Experience Required

  • Previous experience as a mechanic, vehicle technician or service technician.
  • Confident working on a wide range of makes and models.
  • Good understanding of mechanical and basic electrical vehicle systems.
  • Ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and accurately.
  • Experience with motorhomes, campervans, caravans or leisure vehicles would be an advantage, but training can be provided for the right person.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to manage workload in a busy workshop.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, City & Guilds, IMI Qualification Or Equivalent Experience Preferred.
  • MOT Tester qualification would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Additional training in motorhome habitation, 12V/240V systems, LPG or damp checks would be an advantage.
