General Operative - Days
Salary: £28,744.19 to £30,181.40 per annum
Working Hours: Permanent, Full time position, 40 hours per week Monday to Friday between 7am and 4pm
Location: Cheltenham
Excellent benefits package including a 2.5% Golden Hello payment on commencement of employment and a £2,000 annual retention bonus (pro-rata for part time employees), subject to achieving and maintaining clearance requirements

About The Role
We are actively seeking an organised, proactive, and resourceful General Operative to join our frontline operational day team in Cheltenham. This role is ideal for an individual starting out in the Facilities industry or someone who is enthusiastic to receive first-class, supported training to broaden their technical capabilities.
As a General Operative, you will play a vital role in executing general planned and reactive maintenance duties, responding to defects, and safeguarding operations to minimise business disruption across our critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Undertake general planned and reactive maintenance duties to support the Day Supervisor and engineering team
- Manage and complete assigned work order activities efficiently via a mobile tablet/PDA device
- Oversee and conduct the secure on-site escorting of external contractors
- Respond promptly to identified defects, faults, and specific client service requests
- Maintain accurate, compliant logbook records as directed by management
- Ensure all allocated planned maintenance tasks are resolved within designated time frames
- Proactively identify and report material requirements needed to complete ongoing maintenance works
- Act as a professional G4S ambassador in all interactions with client and contractor representatives
- Adhere strictly to corporate security, health, and safety policies to maintain a secure working environment
Essential Requirements
- Hands-on general maintenance skills and a basic overview of plant and equipment
- Practical familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and Excel
- Solid written and verbal English language communication skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain a high Government level Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance
- An organised, resourceful approach with an ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional team

Desirable Attributes
- Existing mechanical or electrical trade skills
- Valid certifications in any of the following fields: pipework, Fire Extinguisher checks, Legionella awareness, or basic plumbing
