Description

We are recruiting a General Operator to join our team in Immingham.

The successful candidate will ensure to complete all duties assigned on a daily basis while processing all incoming waste materials via designated machinery in order to produce a product for recycling or disposal. This role involves working in a high-intensity environment where a team of 5 operators processes approximately 50 tonnes of lead-acid batteries during each shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the Health and Safety of self and colleagues at all times.
  • Ensure duties regarding Environmental Compliance and Waste Management Licensing Regulations are met at all times.
  • Operate and monitor machinery used in the breakdown and processing of lead-acid batteries.
  • Perform manual lifting and handling of heavy battery units, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Ensure that the start and shut down procedures of all machinery is followed as instructed.
  • Complete start up and shutdown procedure maintaining levels of good housekeeping within work area.
  • Process waste and operate machinery in accordance with the training and procedures.
  • Ensure the correct specialised PPE is worn by self and others at all times.
  • Forklift Operation in accordance with training, processes and procedures.
  • General Site maintenance.
  • Complete all administrative paperwork required.
  • Any other duties as required.

Working Conditions:

  • 8-hour shift, made up of 6 hours processing materials and 2 hours allocated rest and recovery.
  • Physically demanding role involving repetitive heavy lifting.
  • Exposure to corrosive chemicals and toxic materials.
  • Mandatory use of PPE, including acid-resistant suits, gloves, boots, and respiratory protection systems.
  • High-temperature and high-humidity environment due to processing equipment.
  • Shift-based work, which may sometimes include weekends.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Experience of high standard of H&S.
  • Ability to learn new systems and new machinery operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team under pressure.
  • Good conflict resolution skills based on a ‘Can do’ attitude.
