Interested in quality of life and a traditional patient-centred approach with continuity of care at the heart of your practice as a GP?
Come to work with us at Dunster and Porlock surgeries on Exmoor, a unique landscape of moorland and woodland where red deer roam, dark skies are full of stars and high cliffs plunge into the sea. Enjoy cosy pubs and tearooms in characterful, historic villages.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to care for our patients in an old-fashioned way from cradle to grave striving for excellent continuity of care which is so often lost in some new models of Primary Care.
We are looking for a GP who would like to join our successful and growing practice for the long-term, particularly a new partner in preparation for the retirement of one of our GPs in 3 years time. You may be a newly qualified or a Salaried GP who has an eye on partnership in the near future. Applications from current partners who are looking for a change of scene are also welcomed.
Dunster and Porlock Surgeries are two highly rated and very welcoming practices, serving vibrant rural communities. Dunster Surgery, built in 2015, has spacious, bespoke premises overlooking the Great Wood. Porlock Medical Centre has views onto the moors and across the sea to Wales yet is located right in the village. We are CQC rated in 2018 as ‘Outstanding’ and were ranked in 2024 as one of the top 100 Practices in the country with 94% of patients rating their experience as good or better.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
