General Service Operative - Rigging
The NEC Group are looking for exhibition and event operatives. The role will support the NEC Rigging department with day-to-day duties on a casual basis. If you love live events, working in a fast-paced and pressured environment and being part of a team, then read on!
This is a broad support role, with responsibilities including:
- Supporting rigging team with loading/unloading and assembly of kit across the site
- Support rigging with stores/warehouses e.g. looking after equipment, checking in/out, ensuring it is fit for purpose and PAT Testing
- Support rigging with taking deliveries for banners and other equipment
The role is mainly working on the exhibitions and live events, which is a 24/7 business and as such, hours can be unsociable. Individuals must be able to show the logic and the ability to work safely to meet client deadlines. A full driving licence is required, and a forklift licence is desirable, as is computer literacy. The role requires manual handling and the movement of equipment.

The successful individual must also be able to:
- Be responsible for their health and safety and show awareness of the health and safety of other individuals in their vicinity.
- Use tools and equipment safely following regulations, procedures, and instructions.
- Follow guidelines relating to manual handling, accident reporting, wearing personal protective equipment etc.
- Understand and implement appropriate risk assessments and safe systems of work
- Work safely and reliably with minimal supervision, reporting accidents, near misses and unsafe practices without delay.
