Position: General Teaching Assistant (KS1/KS2)

Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Temporary

Start Date: 8th September 2026

Location: Bexley, London, UK

Salary: £90 – £100 per day

Daily rate is dependent on experience, qualifications, and relevant training. Higher rates within the band are reserved for candidates with more extensive experience and/or a recognised Teaching Assistant qualification. Pay is determined in line with school expectations and the Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.

Hours of work: 8.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only).

Enjoy helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and seeing them succeed? A friendly Bexley primary school is looking for a General Teaching Assistant to support pupils across KS1 and KS2.

About the Role:

We are recruiting on behalf of a friendly, inclusive primary school in Bexley for a General Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 on a full-time, long-term temporary basis.

This role has a strong focus on booster groups and targeted interventions, giving you the opportunity to make a real, measurable difference to pupils' progress in a school that genuinely invests in catching pupils up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting class teachers with the delivery of lessons across KS1 and KS2
  • Delivering booster and intervention groups in literacy and numeracy
  • Supporting pupils with SEND, including those with an EHCP, on a 1:1 or small-group basis
  • Adapting resources and activities to meet individual pupils' needs
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress against intervention targets
  • Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
  • Liaising with the SENCO and class teachers on pupil progress

Requirements:

To be eligible for this role and the stated rate of pay, applicants must have:

  • Experience supporting primary-aged pupils, ideally including SEND experience
  • Confidence delivering structured interventions (e.g. phonics, reading, or numeracy catch-up)
  • A patient, encouraging approach to supporting pupils
  • A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
