Location: Kensington, Merseyside
Contract: Full-time, long-term supply (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time)
Pay: £110 per day
Start Date: September 2026
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Kensington, Merseyside, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to develop their career within a primary school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support pupils with their learning, development, and wellbeing throughout the school day.
You will play an important role in creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment, helping pupils to build confidence, develop their skills, and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons and activities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils where required
- Helping pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities
- Supporting children's literacy, numeracy, and wider learning
- Assisting with classroom preparation, resources, and displays
- Encouraging positive behaviour and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment
- Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime when required
- Helping children develop confidence, independence, and positive relationships
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and other members of the school team
- Following school policies and contributing to the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or educational setting
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
- Be patient, approachable, and nurturing
- Be confident supporting pupils both independently and as part of a wider classroom team
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be proactive, reliable, adaptable, and willing to support wherever needed
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, and parents/carers
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available full-time, Monday to Friday
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is desirable but not essential
- Previous experience working within a primary school is desirable
