General Teaching Assistant – Primary School

A vibrant and community-focused primary school in Greenwich is looking for a caring and motivated General Teaching Assistant to join its staff team.
This varied position will involve supporting pupils during whole-class lessons, delivering focused interventions and helping children develop confidence in their learning. The school values creativity, inclusion and positive relationships between pupils and staff.
Responsibilities
- Supporting teaching and learning across the primary curriculum
- Working with individuals and small groups in English and mathematics
- Helping pupils remain focused and participate in lessons
- Adapting resources under the direction of the class teacher
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive social skills
- Assisting with displays, resources and classroom organisation
- Sharing observations about pupils’ progress and wellbeing
- Following the school’s safeguarding and behaviour procedures

Requirements
- Experience working with children in a school or similar setting
- A positive, patient and encouraging manner
- Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff
- Confidence supporting pupils with different needs and abilities
- A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial
- An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one
