Location: Hoylake, Wirral
Contract: Full-time, long-term supply (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm, term-time)
Pay: £110 per day
Start Date: September 2026
A friendly and inclusive primary school in Hoylake, Wirral, is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and reliable General Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis.
The role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone with a genuine interest in developing a career within primary education. Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team, you will provide valuable support to pupils throughout the school day, helping them to engage with their learning and develop their confidence and independence.
The successful candidate will be an important part of the classroom, helping to create a positive, encouraging and well-organised environment where all pupils feel supported and able to achieve their best.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities and learning
- Working with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and understanding
- Helping pupils engage with the curriculum and complete classroom tasks
- Providing support with reading, writing, maths and other areas of the primary curriculum
- Preparing and organising classroom resources and learning materials
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to maintain a calm and productive classroom
- Supporting pupils during break and lunchtime as required
- Encouraging children to become more confident, independent and engaged learners
- Developing positive and professional relationships with pupils and staff
- Working as part of the wider school team to support the education and wellbeing of pupils
- Following school policies and maintaining high standards of safeguarding at all times

The Successful Applicant Will
- Have experience working with children or young people, preferably within a school or educational setting
- Be enthusiastic about supporting children and helping them achieve their potential
- Have a calm, patient and nurturing approach
- Be confident working with pupils individually, in small groups and as part of a whole class
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be reliable, adaptable and willing to take a proactive approach
- Be able to establish positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Be committed to creating a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available Monday to Friday
- Hold, or be working towards, a Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (desirable)
- Have previous experience in a primary school setting (desirable)
