About Amber Labs
Amber Labs is a fast-growing UK technology consultancy delivering digital transformation across enterprise, government and regulated sectors. We specialise in cloud, data, software engineering, user-centred design and AI, helping organisations deliver better services through modern technology and agile ways of working.
We're currently supporting the delivery of a major UK Government transformation programme and are looking for an experienced AI Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

Working within multidisciplinary agile teams, you'll collaborate closely with software engineers, cloud engineers, architects and product teams to develop production-ready AI capabilities using AWS Bedrock and modern engineering practices. You'll play a key role in building intelligent automation, improving service management workflows and helping organisations realise the value of generative AI in secure environments.
The role will support a range of AI initiatives, including service desk automation, migration discovery, knowledge management and document processing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
