Role Overview
We are building an enterprise-grade AI platform to enable secure, scalable and production-ready use of Generative AI and ML across the Customs Declaration Service.
The AI gen Engineer will translate architectural designs into working systems, implementing AI services that integrate cleanly into enterprise applications, workflows and SDLC processes.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on productionisation. Location: Anywhere in the UK, with the option to attend the office when required.

Key Skills
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs
- Experience implementing production RAG or agent-based systems
- Strong API and integration skills
- Understanding of evaluation, hallucination mitigation and responsible AI
Key Responsibilities
The AI Engineer designs and implements AI-driven business capabilities using platform services. This role focuses on RAG, agent orchestration and domain-specific AI logic.

- Build RAG pipelines and knowledge retrieval workflows
- Design prompt strategies and guardrails within platform standards
- Configure agent workflows and orchestration patterns
- Collaborate with SMEs to refine domain behaviour
- Conduct structured evaluation and iterative improvement
- Contribute reusable patterns back to platform
