AI Engineer – Azure / GenAI / Agentic Systems
6-month initial contract | £550–600/day | Liverpool (hybrid 2-3 days on-site)
We’re working with a client who are building out their AI capability from the ground up and are looking to bring in their first AI Engineer to take ownership of initial use cases and help shape the direction of travel.
This is a genuinely greenfield opportunity - you’ll be the go-to for AI delivery, working closely with the business to identify, design and build solutions end-to-end.

The role
- Owning delivery of early-stage AI and GenAI use cases
- Working directly with business stakeholders to define and shape opportunities
- Designing and building end-to-end solutions (data → AI → application layer)
- Developing agentic / multi-agent systems
- Laying the groundwork for future AI hires and capability build-out
What they’re looking for
- Strong Python engineering background (pipelines + production solutions)
- Experience building on the Azure data / AI stack
- Hands-on experience with Azure AI Foundry (must-have)
- Proven delivery of AI / ML / GenAI solutions (not just POCs)
- Good grounding in data architecture

- Microsoft stack (Fabric, SQL, low-code environments)
- Data governance (e.g. Purview)
- Kubernetes / microservices architecture
Nice to have
- Experience working with agentic AI / multi-agent frameworks
- Exposure to LLMs, orchestration frameworks or advanced GenAI architecture
