Research that doesn't stay in a lab.
We're partnering with one of the UK's most recognised organisations as they build a world-class applied AI research capability.
This isn't a role focused on publishing papers that never leave the whiteboard. It's an opportunity to shape how millions of people interact with AI through products that solve genuine, real-world problems.
You'll join a newly formed research team exploring the next generation of Generative AI, helping define the technical direction for large-scale customer-facing AI products. You'll work alongside AI engineers, product leaders, and senior stakeholders to turn cutting-edge research into production systems.
If you're someone who enjoys asking "what should we build next?" rather than simply "how do we build this?", we'd love to speak with you.
What you'll be doing
- Research and evaluate the latest advances in Generative AI and foundation models.
- Design rigorous experiments to determine what genuinely works in production.
- Explore emerging techniques including:
- Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- Agentic AI
- Multimodal AI
- Lead research into model selection, fine-tuning, and evaluation strategies.
- Translate complex customer and business problems into AI research challenges.
- Prototype new AI capabilities alongside engineering and product teams.
- Influence the long-term AI strategy of a major organisation.
- Define quality, safety, and evaluation frameworks before solutions reach production.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to productionise research into scalable products.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
