Generator Service Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for a Generator Service Engineer to join a well-established engineering and construction firm, specialising in demolition, civil engineering, plant hire, and power generation services.

As a Generator Service Engineer, you will be providing on-site engineering support, maintaining equipment, diagnosing faults, and carrying out repairs, servicing, and commissioning work.

This role offers a salary of £17.25 per hour for a 39-hour work week, plus overtime opportunities and benefits.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Carrying out planned servicing and preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Selecting appropriate specialist equipment, connectors, and testing tools for maintenance and repairs.
  • Setting up equipment in line with customer specifications.
  • Carrying out modifications to equipment when required and instructed.
  • Repairing and maintaining machinery in accordance with company and manufacturer requirements.
  • Responding to equipment breakdowns and providing effective technical support to customers.
  • Participating in the on-call rota and working overtime when required, sometimes at short notice.
  • Attending relevant training and contributing positively to ongoing technical development.

What We Are Looking For

  • Prior generator experience is essential.
  • Experience in mechanical / electrical engineering or diesel fitting.
  • Familiarity with DSE/Deep Sea systems and generator synchronising, with refresher training available if required.
  • Understanding electronic systems and mechanical components, including engines and alternators.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.

Shifts

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
