The Role

Almac Diagnostic Services is seeking a dynamic and experienced Genomic Services Team Leader to manage projects within our Genomic Services Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual to lead a talented group of scientists and technicians, drive innovation in molecular biomarker discovery, and ensure the efficient delivery of high-quality laboratory services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day management of the Genomic Services projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.
  • Plan laboratory resources in advance based on project forecasts.
  • Ensure all team members are appropriately trained and maintain required competencies.
  • Promote a “right first time” ethos for all laboratory work.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) practices and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and new services to enhance team performance and efficiency.
  • Stay current with advances in genomic services and biomarker development, sharing knowledge across the department.
  • Liaise with other departments (e.g., Project Management, Business Development) to provide technical and regulatory guidance.
  • Report on team performance to management and contribute to strategic planning.
  • Participate in client meetings, site visits, and audits as required.

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, we are looking for you to have:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK/IE OR possess a valid work permit that will allow you to take up full time, permanent employment in the UK/IE
  • BSc in Molecular Biology or a related Life Sciences discipline (or equivalent).
  • Significant previous experience in a Molecular Biology laboratory.
  • Experience implementing new genomic and/or proteomic technologies.
  • Substantial experience troubleshooting molecular laboratory techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high accuracy in all work.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
