Assistant Manager
Pay: £31,000 per annum
About the Role
We’re looking for an energetic and experienced supervisor to support the daily operations of our vibrant restaurant located inside one of our flagship sites in Foxton, Cambridge. You'll play a key role in delivering excellent service, managing a passionate team, and supporting the General Manager with both hands-on and administrative tasks.
This is also a venue where we’re encouraged to be creative — from our food and coffee specials to how we serve our regulars. We’re looking for someone who brings not just skills and reliability, but a sense of fun to the team and the service experience.
This is a fast-paced, customer-facing role perfect for someone who loves great food, has a talent for coffee making, and thrives in a structured weekday schedule.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Helping to manage daily cafe operations, including opening and closing procedures, food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness.
- Barista Duties: Prepare high-quality coffee and hot drinks to order, ensuring consistency and speed during busy periods.
- Leadership and Management Skills: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team.
- Sales and Profitability: Supporting the GM in driving sales and ensuring the cafe is profitable.
- Customer Service: Provide friendly and efficient service to office staff and visitors, ensuring high satisfaction.
- Food Service: Work closely with in-house chefs to ensure smooth food prep and service; help with food handling and basic preparation as needed.
- Events & Hospitality: Supporting the events and hospitality team when necessary.
- Admin Support: Assist the General Manager with daily admin tasks such as stock control, ordering, compliance checks, and basic reporting.
- Operational Excellence: Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health & safety, and food hygiene at all times.
- POS: Support till operations and basic financial procedures as required.

Qualifications
About You
- Proven experience in a similar hospitality or café role (team leader or supervisor level ideal)
- Experience with MS Office, Saffron is an added bonus!
- Skilled in coffee preparation and customer service
- Confident managing a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic food handling knowledge; Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate a plus
- Organised and comfortable with light admin duties
- Great attention to detail
- Positive attitude with a hands-on approach
- Eligibility to work in the UK
