Role Description

The Geo-environmental Engineer will work on the investigation, assessment, and remediation of land and groundwater contamination, supporting projects across commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors.

  • Planning and supervising site investigations
  • Logging soils and rocks
  • Overseeing drilling and sampling
  • Managing laboratory testing programmes
  • Preparing factual and interpretive reports
  • Contributing to risk assessments
  • Providing technical input to environmental impact assessments and design teams

The role involves collaborating with multidisciplinary colleagues, supporting environmental compliance, and engaging with clients to help deliver practical, sustainable solutions.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in Hemel Hempstead, with a combination of on-site work, office-based tasks, and some work from home.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in environmental compliance and environmental consulting, with the ability to interpret regulations and provide practical advice to clients.
  • Experience in environmental impact assessment, including data collection, analysis, and reporting to support planning and permitting processes.
  • Knowledge of waste management and wastewater treatment processes relevant to contaminated land, infrastructure, and industrial projects.
  • Degree in geology, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related discipline; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
  • Experience in geo-environmental site investigation, ground modeling, and contaminated land assessment, including use of relevant software and tools.
  • Ability to work safely on site, with a strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental management best practices.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear technical reports and collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to sites and other offices as required.
