Full-time | £36,000 | UK-based | Remote and London-based | Flexible working arrangements
NorthStar Advisory is a boutique advisory firm providing analysis and advice to senior corporate clients on UK politics, geopolitics, energy and climate and other issues.
We help major companies and senior decision-makers understand geopolitical, UK political and policy developments — and their implications for business strategy, investment and risk.
We are seeking a Research Analyst to support the founding partners in producing client-facing analysis, presentations and social media content.
The successful candidate will undertake substantive analytical and written work from the outset, with intellectually varied work, the opportunity to work closely with former senior government advisers and direct exposure to senior private sector figures.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the founding partners across a range of research, analytical and communications work, including:
- Preparing NorthStar Advisory’s weekly client report covering UK politics, geopolitics and other issues.
- Monitoring international affairs, energy and climate policy, and macroeconomic trends and UK political developments,.
- Supporting the preparation of presentations, briefings and written analysis for senior clients.
- Conducting rapid research and analysis on policy, political and geopolitical developments, synthesising information and identifying the key implications for clients.
- Producing social media content based on NorthStar’s work.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for candidates with:
- Experience and expertise in geopolitics and a strong interest in UK politics and public policy.
- Strong analytical judgment and the ability to identify what matters from large volumes of information.
- The ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively.
- The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working in a supportive, fast-moving and intellectually rigorous environment.
- Ability to use AI tools effectively and accountably to support research and analytical work.
- PowerPoint and presentation preparation skills.
Prior professional experience is desirable but not essential.
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
Desirable Backgrounds
We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with professional or academic experience in areas such as:
- International relations/geopolitics
- UK politics or public policy
- Economics
- Energy or climate policy
- Journalism or political research

Working Arrangements
The role is full-time. Work will be a mix of remote and central London-based.
We can offer flexibility in working hours where compatible with client requirements and deadlines. The role does not normally require evening work but supporting our weekly report will involve minimal weekend work (typically 1-2 hours).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview in mid-October and will be asked to complete a written exercise.
